Composition:

Clindamycin Hydrochloride 27.14 mg Equivalent to Clindamycin 25 m

Properties:

Clindamycin is lincosamide antibiotic , act by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting peptide bond formation. Most aerobic gram positive cocci are susceptible to the lincosamides (Strep. faecalis is not) including  Staphylococcus, and Streptococci. Other organisms that are generally susceptible include: Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Nocardia asteroides, Erysepelothrix, Toxoplasma, and Mycoplasma sp. Anaerobic bacteria that are generally susceptible to the lincosamides include: Clostridium perfringens, C. tetani (not C. difficile), Bacteroides (including many strains of B.

fragilis), Fusobacterium, Peptostreptococcus, Actinomyces, and Peptococcus.

Indication:

Dogs/Cats
– Rhinitis caused by Pseudomonas spp;
– Bronchopneumonia caused by E.coliKlebsiellapneumoniae and Pseudomonas spp;
– Arthritis caused by Pasteurella and Gram-negative bacteria

Target Species:

Dogs, Cats ,Canaries and ornamental birds.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSE:

Dogs, Cats : 1-2 drop / Kg B. Wt. Orally
Canaries and ornamental birds:
2 drops per 100 ml of water, for 3-5 days
In animals that do not drink because they are severely affected, directly administer medicated water to the beak, two – three times a day.
Medicated water should be prepared daily.

Warnings:

For use in swine drinking water only.
Do not store or offer medicated drinking water in rusty containers since the drug is quickly destroyed in such containers.
Medicated drinking water should be prepared daily and be the sole source of drinking water for 3 days.
Treatment may be repeated if dysentery recurs.
Do not slaughter treated swine for food for at least 3 days following treatment.

Contra-Indication:

Aminoglycosides are contraindicated in animals who are hypersensitive to them, should be used with extreme caution in animals with preexisting renal disease with concomitant monitoring and dosage interval adjustments made and should be used with caution in animals with neuromuscular disorders.

Side-Effects:

– Neurotoxic – Ototoxic – Nephrotoxic.

None.
