Each 1 gm contains:
Spectinomycin ( as dihydrochloride pentahydrate ) 500 mg.
Spectinomycin is an antibiotic from the group of aminocyclitols derived from Streptomyces spectabilis, with bacteriostatic activity. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. It is active against Mycoplasma spp. and against some Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli. In many enteric bacteria (such as E. coli) The development of resistance to spectinomycin due to chromosomal mutation is frequent. Plasmid-mediated resistance is less common. Chromosome resistant strains do not show cross-resistance with aminoglycosides. In E. coli and Salmonella spp the MIC distribution appears to be bimodal, with a significant number of strains showing high values, this could partly correspond to natural (intrinsic) resistance.

It is used for treatment of:
•Broiler chickens and turkeys for meat production:
Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum.
GIT Colibacillosis is caused by infection with a pathogenic strain of E.Coli
•Pigs: Enteric colibacillosis caused by E.Coli
Broiler Chickens, Turkeys for meat production and pigs
Route of administration: Orally in drinking water
For active ingredient:
– Brolier Chickens and turkeys for meat production: 100 mg of Spectinomycin / kg.b.wt / day, for 2-5 consecutive days.
– Pigs: 40 mg of spectinomycin / kg.b.wt / day for 3-4 consecutive days.
For whole product:
-Brolier Chickens and turkeys for meat production: 2 g of product / 1 liter of drinking water / day for 2-5 consecutive days.
-Pigs: 4 g of product / 50 kg.b.wt / day, for 3-4 consecutive days.
• Do not administer to birds whose eggs are intended for human consumption.
• A significant part of the strains of E.coli they show high MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) values against spectinomycin and can be clinically resistant.
• During treatment the only source of drinking water should be medicated drinking water
Special precautions for use in animals:
• Good clinical practice requires basing treatment on susceptibility testing of bacteria isolated from diseased animals. If this is not possible, treatment should be based on local epidemiological information (regional, farm level) on the sensitivity of the different strains of the bacterial species usually involved in the infectious process.
• The use of the drug in conditions other than those recommended in the Insert may increase the prevalence of resistant bacteria and decrease the effectiveness of the treatment as a consequence of the appearance of cross-resistance.
• Sick animals have a reduced intake capacity and an altered water consumption pattern and therefore, severely affected animals may require parenteral treatment.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
• People with known hypersensitivity to spectinomycin should avoid all contact with the drug.
• Handle the medicine with care to avoid contact during its incorporation into water.
• Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and inhalation of the medicine. In case of accidental contact, wash immediately with plenty of water. If symptoms appear after exposure, such as a skin rash, consult a doctor.
• Swelling of the face, lips and eyes or respiratory distress are more serious signs that require urgent medical attention.
• Wash hands after handling.
• Do not smoke, eat or drink while handling the medicine.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay:
• Its use is not recommended during pregnancy or lactation.
• Do not use in birds during laying.
• Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to spectinomycin and / or to any of the excipients.
• Do not use in laying birds.
• Do not administer in conjunction with aminoglycoside antibiotics.
• Vomiting, fever, diarrhea and slight hives accompanied by itching can occur.
• Hypersensitivity reactions occur rarely, but can occur and require discontinuation of treatment with the veterinary medicinal product. Symptomatic treatment should be implemented.
• Vomiting, fever, diarrhea and slight hives accompanied appear accentuated.
• Meat: Broiler Chickens and Turkeys for meat production: 5 days.
• Pigs: 6 days.
Eggs: Not authorized for use in laying birds whose eggs are used for human consumption.
• Keep in dry and dark place away from direct light.
• Do not store above 25 ºC
• Keep out of reach of children.
