Composition :
Each 1 ml contains:
Sulfadimidine (as sodium ethane sulfonate) 200.0 mg
Trimethoprim (as sodium ethane sulfonate) 40.0 mg
Properties:
Sulfamartiros is antibactireal product. It is a combined of Sulfadimidine and Trimethoprim.
Sulfadimidine is a fast acting sulfonamide in the body. It has a purely bacteriostatic action, blocking the use of folic acid by bacteria. It has a broad spectrum of activity from gram-positive to gram-negative (Streptococci, Staphylococci, Corynbacteria, Pasteurella and E. coli).Trimethoprim belongs to the diaminopyrimidine family. It is active against streptococci and most Gram-negative bacteria, trimethoprim specifically inhibits microbial dehydrofolate reductase in combination these two active substances are synergistic. The combination allows sequential blocking of the biosynthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid, sulfonamide by inhibiting the incorporation of para-aminobenzoic acid into folic acid, trimethoprim by specifically inhibiting microbial dehydrofolate reductase. The theoretical spectrum of activity thus extends to both Gram-positive (Staphylococcus, Listeria) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Proteus, Enterobacter, Bordetella) bacteria..
Indications:
For the treatment of:
– Bacterial pneumonia and Bovine respiratory disease complex (shipping fever complex): caused by Pasteurella spp; colibacillosis.
-Bacterial scours: caused by Escherichia coli.
– Necrotic pododermatitis (foot rot) and Calf diphtheria: caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum.
-Acute mastitis and Acute metritis: caused by pathogenic Streptococcus spp sensitive to sulfamethazine.
Target Species:
Cattle.
Dosage and administration:
-Route: I/M, S/C, or I/V slow.
-For Whole product:
1 mL of solution/ 15 kg /b.wt./day for 3 days.
Renew the injection every 24 hours for 3 days.
Warnings:
– People with known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or trimethoprim should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product.
– Dispense high doses at multiple injection sites when administered intramuscularly
– In case of accidental projection into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
– Consult a doctor in case of erythema.
– Seek immediate medical attention if swelling of the face, lips, or eyes occurs, or if breathing difficulties occur
– Empty packaging and any remaining product must be disposed of in accordance with current practices governed by the Waste Regulations.
Contra-indications:
– Do not administer to hypersensitive animals with sulfonamides and / or trimethoprim.
– Do not use in severe renal or hepatic impairment
– Use of the product during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Adverse Effects:
-Teratogenic and foetotoxic effects have been observed in laboratory animals at doses above the recommended therapeutic doses
-Local reactions at the injection site after intramuscular administration.
Side-Effects:
-Chlorphenamine has a weak sedative effect.
-In very rare cases, local reactions were observed at the injection site. All the reactions were transient and resolved spontaneously.
-Use only accordingly to the benefit-risk assessment by the responsible veterinarian

Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C and used immediately after openin.

Carton Box contains Colorless glass (Type II) vials containing 50,100 ,250 ml solution closed with bromobutyl rubber stopper and non-re-usable aluminum closures with an outer label and insert Leaflet.
