Each 1 liter contains:
Albendazole 100 gm
Levamisole HCl 75 gm
Marbendaros is a combination anthelmintic containing Albendazole and Levamisole. It is effective against parasites sensitive to one or both of these families. For the control of sensitive mature and immature Haemonchus, Ostertagia, Trichostronglus, Nematodirus, Cooperia, Trongyloides, Bunostomum, Oesophagostomum, Chabertia and Trichuris that may be resistant to benzimazole or levamisole. Also for the control of tapeworm, lungworm and adult liver fluke in cattle.
Albendazole is a broad spectrum multi-purpose anthelmintic for the control of mature and developing immature forms of gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, tapeworms and adult liver fluke in cattle. The product is also ovicidal against fluke and roundworm eggs.
Levamisole is active against adult and immature gastro-intestinal and pulmonary nematodes when administered to experimentally infected animals by the oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular or intraperitoneal routes. It is thought to act by paralysing the susceptible parasites which are then expelled from the alimentary canal.
For the treatment of :
Roundworms: Ostertagia, Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Nematodirus (including N.
battus), Chabertia and Oesophagostomum. It is usually effective against inhibited
larvae of Ostertagia.
Lungworms: Dictyocaulus filaria.
Tapeworms: Moniezia spp.
Adult Liver Fluke: Fasciola hepatica.
Cattle.
Orally by drenching gun.
-Shake well before use.
For whole product: 1ml/10 kg.b.wt.
-Above 420 kg add 1mL per 10 kg bodyweight
– Repeate the treatmevt after 21 days.
– Care should be taken when treating heavily pregnant animals or animals under stress
from adverse weather conditions, poor nutrition, penning, handling etc.. Levacide Low Volume Worm Drench is not effective against Type II Ostertagiasis (winter scours) in cattle.
-In cases of lungworm infections, coughing may persist for a considerable time following successful treatment with the product This is due to tissue damage caused by the parasites.
-Care should be taken to avoid the following practices because they increase the risk of development of resistance and could ultimately result in ineffective therapy:
– Too frequent and repeated use of anthelmintic from the same class, over an extended period of time.
– Under dosing which may be due to underestimation of body weight, Misadministration of the product, or lack of calibration of the dosing device.
-Suspected clinical cases of resistance to anthelmintic should be further investigated using appropriate tests (e.g. Faecal Egg Count Reduction Test). Where the results of the tests strongly suggest resistance to a particular anthelmintic, an anthelmintic belonging to another pharmacological class and having a different mode of action should be used.
-After treatment animals should be moved to clean pasture in order to prevent re-infection. Where this is not done, further dosing at 21 day intervals may be necessary.
-Concurrent treatment with products containing organophosphorus compounds or diethylcarbamazine citrate should be avoided. These compounds should not be administered within a period of 14 days before or after treatment with Levamisole.
-Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
-Do not use in animals producing milk for human consumption.
– May be harmful if swallowed. Harmful in contact with skin. Causes mild skin irritation and may cause an allergic skin reaction.
-Albendazole and levamisole HCl may possibly cause damage to genetic material.
-Albendazole may possibly affect development and levamisole HCl may possibly affect the blood and haematopoietic system.
Meat : Animals producing meat or offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter during or within 14 days of cessation of last treatment.
Milk: Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment and for not less than 35 days following the last treatment.
