Composition :
Each 1gm contains:
Apramycin Sulphate 800 mg ( Eq. to Apramycin Base 550 mg )
Properties:
Apramycin is bactericidal aminocyclitol antibiotic. It acts by irreversible binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. It is active against many Gm –ve bacteria (E.coli, Pseudomonas spp., Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp.,Proteus spp., Pasteurella spp., Serpulina hyodysenteriae and Bordetella bronchiseptica). Also it is active against Staphylococcus spp. and Mycoplasma spp.
Indications:
- Pigs: For treatment of bacterial enteritis caused by susceptible strains of E.coli
& other organisms susceptible to apramycin. - Pre-ruminating calves: For treatment of bacterial enteritis caused by E.coli & Salmonella spp.
- Broiler chickens: For treatment of colisepticaemia (Colibacillosis) caused by
susceptible strains of E.coli .
Target Species:
Pigs – pre-ruminating calves – Broiler chickens.
Dosage& route of administration:
Route: Taken orally via drinking water
For whole product:
Pre-ruminating calves: 2 – 4 gm of product / 55 kgm.b.wt. Daily for 5 days.
Pigs: 0.75– 1.25 gm of product / 55 kgm.b.wt. Daily for 7 days.
Broiler chickens: 45.45– 90.90 gm / 1000 kgm.b.wt. Daily for 5 days. (0.5–1 gm / liter).
Warnings & precautions:
Shouldn’t be used with other drugs which have nephrotoxic, ototoxic and neurotoxic effects.
Shouldn’t be used in animals suffering from renal impairment.
Drinking systems should be clean & free of rust to avoid reduction of activity.
Contra-indications
- Not to be used in animals hypersensitive to apramycin.
- Not to be used in animals suffering from myasthenia gravis.
- Do not use in laying chickens producing eggs for human consumption.
- Not to be used in cats(toxic).
Side-Effects:
- Due to the relatively low enteral absorption of Apramycin ,the incidence of side effects ( impaired renal, hearing and sense of equilibrium functions)
Can be expected only in special cases, like previously injured animals. - Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity.
Withdrawal Periods:
Pigs: slaughter: 14 days.
Pre-ruminating calves: slaughter: 28 days.
Broiler chickens: slaughter: 7 days.
Storage condations:
Store at temperature below 30 C.
