Each 100 gm contains:
Erythromycin Thiocyanate 20 g
(Equivalent to Erythromycin base 18.51 g)
Erythromycin, an antibiotic from the macrolide group, is active against Gram-positive bacteria (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Actinomyces spp.) Gram negative (Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus hemolyticus) and mycoplasmas. It is also active against leptospires. erythromycin interferes with protein synthesis by reversibly binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome.
It is used for treatment of:
Chronic respiratory disease caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum
Chickens.
Route: Orally in drinking water.
For Active Ingredient:
20 mg of erythromycin / kg body weight per 24 hours in drinking water, for 3 days.
For whole product:
1.1 gm of product /1 liter drinking water per 24 hours in drinking water, for 3 days.
• The amount of medicated drinking water consumed by poultry depends on their physiological and clinical condition.
• In order to obtain the recommended dosage, the concentration of erythromycin in the drinking water should be adjusted accordingly.
Special precautions for use in animals:
• Improper use of the product may increase the prevalence of bacteria resistant to erythromycin.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administrating the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
• People with known hypersensitivity to macrolides should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product.
• In case of reaction after exposure (skin rash for example), seek medical advice.
Precautions during pregnancy, lactation or lay:
• Studies in laboratory animals have not produced any evidence of teratogenic effects.
• The specialty can only be used after evaluation of the benefit / risk ratio by the veterinarian.
• Not used in case of allergy to erythromycin or to another macrolide.
• Not used in rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, & hamsters.
• Not used orally in ruminants.
• Not used adult horses.
• Macrolide antibiotics probably should not be used with chloramphenicol or the lincosamides, because they may compete for the same 50S ribosomal binding site, although the in vivo significance of this potential interaction is unclear.
• Activity of macrolides is depressed in acidic environments.
• Macrolides also are substrates for and potentially potent inhibitors of P-glycoprotein efflux pumps.
• Oral erythromycin may occasionally case GI disturbances such as diarrhea, anorexia and vomiting.
• Toxicity and adverse effects are uncommon for most macrolides (except tilmicosin).
• With the exception of the adverse effect outlined above erythromycin is relatively non-toxic.
• Egg: 6 days.
• Meat and offal :6 days.
• Store at room temperature not more than 25°C
• Protect from direct sunlight.
