Composition :

Each 100 ml contains
Kanamycin acid Sulphate 7 500 000 IU
N-acetyl-l-cysteine 7.5 gm

Properties:

Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It has abroad spectrum of activity against both most gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic bacteria as well as anaerobes in general such as Aerobacter spp., E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus spp., Staphylococcus spp ., Streptococcus spp,. Kanamycin exerts a bactericidal action through inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis and reduction of translation fidelity at ribosomal level.

Indications:

It is indicated for use in the treatment of primary and secondary bacterial infections, caused by susceptible microorganisms sensitive to kanamycin characterized by abundant mucoid or mucopurulent exudate. In particular : respiratory tract or genitourinary infections , catarrhal mastitis or mucopurulent ; bacterial complications in the course of viral infections (influenza syndromes , distemper) as well as polyarthritis, otitis and abscesses.

Target Species:

Cattle, Calves, Sheep and Goats.

Dose for active ingredient:

by intramuscular ( IM) , Intrathecal (IT) or subcutaneous (SC) injection
Adult cattle : 6000 – 7500 IU Kanamycin Sulphate , 6-7.5 mg N-acetyl-l-cysteine / kg body weight every 12 hours.
Calves : 7500 – 12000 IU Kanamycin Sulphate , 7.5-12 mg N-acetyl-l-cysteine / kg body weight every 12 hours.
Sheep & Goats : 11250 – 15000 IU Kanamycin Sulphate , 11.25 -15 mg N-acetyl-l-cysteine / kg body weight every 12 hours.

Dose for whole product:

Adult cattle : 8-10 ml / 100 kg body weight, every 12 hours.
Calves : 10-16 ml / 100 kg body weight, every 12 hours
Sheep & Goats : 1.5-2 ml / 10 kg bodyweight ,every 12 hours.

Warnings & precautions:

Do not use in birds in lay.
Do not inject intravenously.
Improper use in producing milk for human consumption.
A state of severe dehydration may increase the risk of toxic effects of kanamycin: in such cases, gine appropriate rehydration therapy. For administration of the product take appropriate aseptic precautions.
Use only after ascertaining the sensitivity of germs to the active.

Contra-indications

Do not use in case of severe renal impairment.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity ‘to the active substances or excipients.
Not use in case of resistance to kanamycin ascertained.
Do not mix with other ototoxic substances.

Side-Effects:

The aminoglycoside antibiotics can cause impairment of functionality and renal lesions on the eighth cranial nerve and consequent ototoxicity, both auditory vestibular, following overdose or prolonged treatment over time, especially in animals with impaired functionality kidney.

Withdrawal Periods:

Meat. Cattle, sheep, goats: 29 days. Milk: 5.5 days (equivalent to 11 milking ).
Not for use in animals producing eggs for human consumption

Storage:

Store in dry dark and place at temperature not exceeding to 30 ^o.
