MARTIGENT 50

MOXIMARTIRO Pour-on
Composition:
Each 1 ml contains:
Ketoprofen 300 mg
Properties:
Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and cyclooxygenase inhibitor. It is a potent analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory. Ketoprofen is most-commonly prescribed for musculoskeletal pain from soft tissue injury, osteoarthritis, or other bone and joint problems. It may be used to reduce or control fevers due to viral or bacterial infections. NSAIDs work by inhibiting the body’s production of prostaglandins, thromboxane, and other inflammatory mediators. Some of these actions are dose-dependent. Ketoprofen may be given by injection or orally. Following oral administration, pain relief and fever reduction usually start within one to two hours.
Indications:
Ketoprofen is used in dogs and cats for the short-term management of postsurgical pain. On occasion it may be used for the longer-term management of chronic pain particularly due to osteoarthritis. About 20% of adult dogs are affected with osteoarthritis, which makes management of musculoskeletal pain a major component of companion-animal practice.
Target Species:
Dogs and cats.
Dosage & Route of administration:
Dogs and cats : 1 drop / 10 kg B.W. Orally
• Avoid combining with other anti-inflammatory drugs that tend to cause GI ulcers, such as corticosteroids and other NSAIDs.
• Avoid combining with anticoagulant drugs, particularly coumarin derivatives such as warfarin.
• Do not use in animals known to be allergic to aspirin
Warning and Precautions:
• Water intake of treated animals should be monitored to ensure adequate intake.
Individual animal medication, preferably by injection, will be required if daily water intake is insufficient.
• As ketoprofen may provoke gastrointestinal ulcerations, the use is not recommended in cases of PMWS (post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome) because ulcers are already frequently associated with this pathology.
• To reduce the risk of adverse reaction do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment.
• When administrating to very young animals it is necessary to adjust the dose accurately as well as to perform a close clinical follow up.
Contra-Indication:
• Do not use in pregnant sows.
• Do not administer to fasting animals or animals with limited access to feed.
• Do not use in animals where there is the possibility of gastrointestinal alterations, ulceration or bleeding in order not to aggravate their situation.
• Do not use in dehydrated or hypovolemic or hypotensive animal due to the potential nrisk of increased renal toxicity.
• Do not administer to swine fattened at extensive or semi-extensive production farms.
• Do not use in animals suffering from cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease.
• Do not use where there is evidence of blood dyscrasia.
• Do not use in animals with a history of hypersensitivity to ketoprofen, aspirin or any of the excipients.
Side-Effects:
