Composition :
Each one gram contains:
Lincomycin Hydrochlroide Monohydrate 500 mg
(eq. to Lincomycin base 440.92 mg)
Properties:
Lincomycin is lincosamide antibiotic with baceriostatic action acts mainly against Aerobic Gram +ve bacteria Like staphylococcus and streptococci spp, Anaerobic bacteria CLostriudm perfringens, Closrtidum tetani, and Mycoplasma spp.
Lincosamides inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting peptidyl transferase.
Indications:
for treatment of
Pigs:
Swine dysentery in pigs caused by Brachyspira (Serpulina) hyodysenteriae.
Broiler Chickens:
Necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens
Target Species:
Pigs – Broiler chickens
Dosage of administration:
Route: orally via drinking water
Dose for whole product:
pigs: 30 mg of product / Kg B.wt in drinking water daily for 5 days
Chickens: 11.34 gm of product / 1000 B.wt in drinking water daily for 7 day.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Discard medicated drinking water if not used within 2 days.
- Special care must be exercised when using the drug in lactating animals as possible gastrointestinal side effects of Lincomycin may occur in very young (suckling) animals.
- Concomitant use of anesthetics or of drugs with neuromuscular blocking as Lincomycin enhances muscle relaxation.
- Complete Cross resistance between Macrolides and Lincosamides.
Contra-indications
- Not be used in pigs with hypersensitivity to Lincomycin and Clindamycin.
- Not be used in pigs with hepatic impairment.
- Not be used in horses, rabbit, hamsters, guinea pigs and ruminant animals ( risk for sever colitis)
- Not authorized for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption
Side-effects:
- diarrhea, vomiting, and anorexia occur rarely
- In pigs, within 18 to 36 hours after initiation of treatment redness and slight swelling of the anal and Vulvar area occur.
- Allergic reactions and neuromuscular blocking effects may occur in individual cases.
Withdrawal periods:
Edible tissue of pigs 8 days
• Meat and offal of chicken (broiler): 5 days
• Not authorized for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption
Storage conditions:
Store in dry place at temperature not exceeding 30c.
Used immediately after opening and reconstitution.
Packaging:
White high density polyethylene plastic jars containing 100 gm, 250 gm, 500 gm, 1,5,10,15,20,25Kg water soluble powder with white high density polyethylene plastic cap.
