Each 1 ml contains:
Triclabendazole 12 gm
Levamisole Hydrochloride 7.5 gm
Levamisole Hydrochloride is a highly effective anthelmintic agent. It is the laevoisomer of tetramisole hydrochloride. It is a broad spectrum anthelmintic with activity against a wide range of gastro-intestinal helminths and lungworms in cattle. It is a ganglion stimulant of the nervous system of nematodes causing neuromuscular paralysis of the parasites. Because it acts on the nervous system it is not ovicidal.
Triclabendazole differs from other benzimidazoles in that it is a narrow spectrum anthelmintic. The drug accumulates significantly in both immature and adult stages of Fasciola hepatica and stimulates the major routes of the parasite’s energy generating system, as demonstrated by glucose derived acetate and propionate formation. However, under these conditions the parasite’s motility decreased, indicating that the drug is not associated with inhibition of the energy generating pathways. It inhibits colchicine binding to microtubular proteins suggesting interference of the drug with microtubular structure and function. It strongly inhibits the release of proteolytic enzymes in immature and adult parasites, a process dependant on microtubular functions. The precise molecular mode of action of this fasciolicidal drug remains to be elucidated.
For the treatment of:
• Parasitic bronchitis: caused by Dictyocaulus spp. in the lungs
• Parasitic gastro-enteritis: caused by mature & developing immature stages of levamisole susceptible Haemonchus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp. & Oesophagostomum spp. in the gastro-intestinal tract.
• Acute & Chronic Fascioliasis: caused by Fasciola hepatica from 2 weeks old early immature to adult fluke.
Cattle
Taken orally as oral drench
Shake well before use.
1 ml of the product / 10 kg b.wt.
Repeat treatment after 21 days.
• Assess bodyweight as accurately as possible before calculating the dosage.
• Clean drenching equipment before & after use.
• Shake container thoroughly before use & use undiluted product from the original container.
• Intensive use or misuse of anthelmintics can give rise to resistance. To reduce this risk, dosing programmes should be discussed with your veterinary adviser
• Animals should not be treated simultaneously or within 14 days before or after use with organophosphorous compounds or diethylcarbamazine citrate.
• Do not use in animals known to be hypersensitive to the active substance.
• When the product is used at the recommended dose rate, side effects are rare. At higher dosages, transient side effects due to levamisole may occur (salivation & slight muscle tremors)
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment.
Cattle may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 56 days from the last treatment.
Not authorized for use in cattle producing milk for human consumption including during the dry period. Do not use during the last trimester of pregnancy in heifers which are intended to produce milk for human consumption.
Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
