Per ml. Aqueous Solution Contains
Tiamulin Hydrogen Fumarate 125 mg.
Tiamulin is usually a bacteriostatic antibiotic, but can be bactericidal in very high concentrations against susceptible organisms. The drug acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
Tiamulin has good activity against many gram positive cocci, including most Staphylococci and
Streptococci (not group D streps). It also has good activity against Mycoplasma and spirochetes.
With the exception of Haemophilus sp. and some E. coli and Klebsiella strains, the drug’s activity
is quite poor against gram negative organisms.
Pigs: Treatment of swine dysentery caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae and complicated by Fusobacterium and Bacteroides spp.
Broiler Chickens: Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) : caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum
Turkeys: Infectious Sinusitis caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum
Pigs, Broiler Chickens and Turkeys.
Pigs: Treatment of swine dysentery : 10 ml of Martimulin per 142 kg bodyweight for 3-5 consecutive days
Broiler Chickens: 2 ml of Martimulin per Liter of drinking water for 3-5 days
Turkeys: 2 ml of Martimulin per Liter of drinking water for 5 days
Do not administer ionophore anticoccidials (salinomycin, monensin, narasin) to pigs and poultry receiving therapeutic doses of Martimulin.
Pigs and poultry should not receive products containing ionophores during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with Martimulin.
Tiamulin should not be administered to animals having access to feeds containing polyether ionophores (e.g., monensin, lasalocid, narasin, or salinomycin) as adverse reactions may occur. Not for use in swine over 250 pounds. Teratogenicity studies done in rodents demonstrated no teratogenic effects at doses up to 300 mg/kg. The manufacturer has concluded that the drug is not tumorigenic, carcinogenic, teratogenic or mutagenic.
Adverse effects occurring with this drug at usual doses are considered unlikely. Rarely, redness of the skin, primarily over the ham and underline, has been observed. It is recommended to discontinue the medication, provide clean drinking water and hose down the area or move affected animals to clean pens.
Animals and birds must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment.
Pigs : 2 days from the last treatment.
Broiler Chickens : 2 days from the last treatment.
Turkeys : 5 days from the last treatment.
Eggs: zero days.
