Composition :
Each 1gm contains:
Neomycin sulfate 300 mg
(eq .to neomycin base 210 mg)
Properties:
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside bactericidal antibiotic,It produces its antibacterial effect on the30 S ribosomal subunit . It prevents the initiation phase which disturbs the organization of messenger RNA causing a misreading of genetic code by transfer RNA. It is active against G-ve bacteria such as: E. coli , Salmonella spp.,Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Bordetella bronchiseptica& Pasteurella spp.& few G+ve bacteria as Staphylococcus aureus.
Indications:
For treatment of : Salmonellosis non-specific diarrhea caused by Sallmonella spp,.
Target Species:
Broiler chickens-Laying hens- Turkeys.
Dosage and Administration :
Route : Orally via drinking water.
Dose for active ingredient:
11 mg neomycin / kg.b.wt.
Dose for whole product:
52.38 gm of the product / 1000 kg.b.wt. in drinking water daily for 3-5 days( 0.5 gm / Liter )
Warnings and precautions:
- Administered in an amount of water to be completely consumed the dose.
- Prepare daily drinking solution.
- Do not administer neuromuscular blockers, general anesthetics or other antidiuretic aminoglycosides.
Contra-indications
- Contraindicated in birds hypersensitive to the aminoglycosides.
- Oral neomycin is contraindicated in case of intestinal blockage.
Side-Effects:
Rarely oral neomycin may cause ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, severe diarrhea &intestinal malabsorption.
Withdrawal Periods:
Meat: Turkeys and laying hens :14 days.
Broilers: 5 days.
Storage:
Store at temperature not exceeding 30 c ,away from moisture.
