Composition :
Each 1 gm contains:
Florfenicol 200 mg
Properties:
Florfenicol is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic in the phenicol group it acts by inhibiting many Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative bacteria ( Actinobacillus Pleuropneumonia, Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Esherichia coli ). Florfenicol acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomal level and may be considered bacteriostatic.
Indications:
Treatment of
Pigs
• Swine respiratory disease caused by Pasteurella Multocida
• Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus Pleuropneumonia
Broiler Chicken:
• Colibacillosis caused by Esherichia coli
Target Species:
Pigs – broiler chicken
Route of Administration:
Route: orally via drinking water
Dosage for active ingredient:
Pigs: 10 mg Florfenicol / kg.b.wt. /day /5 days in drinking water
Broiler chickens: 20 mg florefenicol / kg b.wt. / day / 5 days
Dose for whole product:
Pigs: 0.5gm of product / 10kg.b.wt. /day /5 days in drinking water
Broiler chickens: 1 gm / liter drinking water for 5 days
Warnings and precautions:
- Use of the product should be based on susceptibility testing.
- Inappropriate use of the product may increase the prevalence of bacteria resistant to florfenicol.
- Treatment should not exceed 5 days.
Contra-indications
- Do not administer to boars intended for breeding.
- Do not administer in cases of previous allergic reactions to florfenicol.
- Do not use in birds which are producing eggs for human consumption.
Adverse effects:
- The most common side effects are diarrhea, and / or perianal erythema of edema or rectum that may affect 40% of the animals. These effects are transient.
- In some animals, transient rectal prolapse that resolves without treatment.
- A slight reduction in food consumption may be observed during treatment.
Withdrawal periods:
Pigs: meat and offal: 20 days
Chicken: 5 days before slaughter
Storage condition:
Store in tightly sealed container protected from light below 30˚C
