Composition :
Each 1 gm contains: Doxycycline hyclate 865.537 mg ( Eq. to doxycycline base 750 mg)
Properties:
Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic action. It is active against many of Gram+ve and Gram-ve bacteria, certain Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia and Protozoa. It is not effective against viruses, yeasts and fungi .Like other tetracycline antibiotics, doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome .As a result, It prevents binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. The in vitro activity of doxycycline against germs that cause respirator y infections in the Pig is much more pronounced than other classic tetracyclines There is a complete cross-resistance with other antibiotics of the tetracycline group.
Indications:
In treatment of :
Pigs: Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
Mycoplasmal pneumonia (Enzootic Pneumonia) caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
Broiler chickens:
Colibacillosis caused by Escherichia coli and Chronic Respiratory Syndrome caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum .
Target Species:
Pigs. – broiler chickens.
Route of Administration:
Orally via drinking water.
Dose for whole product:
Pigs: 1 gm of product / 75 kg.b.wt.in drinking water/day/5 days.
Broiler chickens: 20 gm of product / 1000kg. b.wt.in drinking water for 7 days (1gm of product/5liter) (0.20gm of product/1liter).
Warnings and precautions:
- The tetracyclines are primarily bacteriostatic substances. Concomitant use with bactericidal antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, trimethoprim) may possiblycause antagonistic effect.
- The divalent and trivalent cautions can form complexes with doxycycline.
Contra-indications
- Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.
- Do not use in animals with hepatic or renal impairment.
Adverse effects:
- Animals may suffer from diarrhea. In severe cases, the therapy should be discontinued.
- Photosensitivity may develop.
Withdrawal periods:
• Meat and offal of chicken (broiler): 10 days
• Not authorized for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption
• Pigs : 5 days before slaughter.
Storage condition:
Store at temperature not exceeding 300 C in dry place and used immediately after opening and used within 24 hours after reconstitution when stored at temperature not exceeding 300 C
Packaging:
Colorless ( LDPE) plastic bag containing 20,25,30,50,100, 150,200,250,300,500 and 1000 gm. W.S.P. in white (HDPE) plastic jars with white ( HDPE) plastic cap with an outer label without Insert.
