Spiramycin adipate ……………207M.I.U corresponding to 59.449gm (3.482 IU/mg).
Spiramycin is a bacteriostatic antibiotic at usual doses and bactericidal at high doses . It inhibits the bacterial protein biosynthesis, by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomal. Its spectrum comprises germs :Gram +ve bacteria (Streptococcus ,Staphylococcus Clostridium,Diplococcus pneumoniae , Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae ), Gram –ve (Brucella , Neisseria ,Haemophilus ,Mycoplasmas ) and Protozoa (Toxoplasma SPP and Treponema hyodysenteriae ).After oral administration it is well absorbed in the intestine, peak plasma concentrations occur within 1-2 hours.It is well distributed throughout the tissues , reaching the same concentrations in blood. Focuses on arm,kidney,liver and lung specially .It does not penetrate into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF ) and penetrate into pleural and ascites fluid .
*Enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae .
*Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.

Route : Orally via drinking water
2 gm of product/50 kg.b.wt. in drinking water daily for 3-5 days.
25 mg/kg.b.wt.
Do not use in pigs with a history of hypersensitivity to macrolides.
Meat : 14 days.
