Composition :
Each 100 gm contains:
Spiramycin adipate ……………207M.I.U corresponding to 59.449gm (3.482 IU/mg).
Properties:
Spiramycin is a bacteriostatic antibiotic at usual doses and bactericidal at high doses . It inhibits the bacterial protein biosynthesis, by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomal. Its spectrum comprises germs :Gram +ve bacteria (Streptococcus ,Staphylococcus Clostridium,Diplococcus pneumoniae , Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae ), Gram –ve (Brucella , Neisseria ,Haemophilus ,Mycoplasmas ) and Protozoa (Toxoplasma SPP and Treponema hyodysenteriae ).After oral administration it is well absorbed in the intestine, peak plasma concentrations occur within 1-2 hours.It is well distributed throughout the tissues , reaching the same concentrations in blood. Focuses on arm,kidney,liver and lung specially .It does not penetrate into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF ) and penetrate into pleural and ascites fluid .
Indications:
*Enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae .
*Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
Target Species:
Pigs.
Route of Administration:
Route : Orally via drinking water
Dose for whole product:
2 gm of product/50 kg.b.wt. in drinking water daily for 3-5 days.
Dose for active ingredients :
25 mg/kg.b.wt.
Warnings and precautions:
- Ensure that the pigs do not have the same access to another source of drinking water.
- The administration of substances that acidify or alkalize the urine can cause changes in the elimination of Spiramycin , increasing or decreasing its presence in the body , respectively.
- It Competes at the place of action site with chloramphenicol and lincosamides.
Contra-indications
Do not use in pigs with a history of hypersensitivity to macrolides.
Adverse effects:
- Intestinal dysbacteriosis in some cases.
Withdrawal periods:
Meat : 14 days.
Storage condition:
- store at temperature not more than 25 ◦C and protected from light.
- keep out of reach of children in cool dry place .
