Jolimarkin
Solution for use in drinking water
For veterinary use only
Composition :
Each 1ml contains:
Florfenicol 100 mg
Properties:
Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum synthetic antibiotic in the phenicol group that is active against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria isolated from domestic animals. Florfenicol acts by inhibition of protein synthesis at the ribosomal level and is bacteriostatic. However, bactericidal activity has been demonstrated in-vitro against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida when florfenicol is present at concentrations above the MIC for up to 12 hours. In-vitro testing has shown that florfenicol is active against the bacterial pathogens most commonly isolated in respiratory diseases in pigs, including Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida.
Indications:
It is used:
Pigs:
– Treatment of swine respiratory diseases associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae or Pasteurella multocida
-Treatment of Glasser’s disease caused by Haemophilus parasuis
Broiler chickens:
– Treatment of infections caused by E. coli
Target Species:
Pigs & Broiler chickens.
Dosage & route of administration:
Route of administration:
• Orally via drinking water.
For whole product:
• Pigs: 10 ml of the product / 100 kg b.wt. in drinking water / day for 5 consecutive days.
• Broiler chickens: 2 ml of the product /1 liter /day in drinking water for 5 consecutive days.
-Medicated water must be the only form of drinking water offered to animals during treatment.
To avoid under-dosing, you need to know the body weight as accurately as possible.
The absorption of medicated water depends on the clinical conditions of the animals and the environmental temperature. To obtain the correct dosage, the concentration of the product must be adjusted according to the actual water intake and body weight of the treated animals, using the following calculation method:
x ml of product per kg of body weight per day X average body weight (kg) of the animals = x ml of product per liter of drinking water
-The concentration of florfenicol in medicated water must not exceed 1 g/1 to avoid precipitation. Medicated drinking water must be replaced every 24 hours.
-The veterinary medicinal product must be added to the drinking water, mixing well, until the product is completely dissolved. The animals to be treated must have sufficient access to drinking water to be able to take the medicine in adequate quantities.
At the end of the treatment period, the water compartment must be properly cleaned to avoid the intake of uh-therapeutic quantities of the active ingredient.
Warnings :
• Pigs undergoing treatment must be kept under special observation.
• During the five days of treatment, pigs should not be given un medicated drinking water until they have ingested all the required daily amount of medicated water.
• If no signs of improvement are seen three days after starting treatment, the diagnosis should be repeated and, if necessary, treatment changed.
• Not for use in birds producing eggs for human consumption
Withdrawal Periods:
• Pigs: Meat and offal: 23 days
• Broiler chickens: 8 days
• Not for use in birds producing eggs for human consumption.
Contra-indications:
• Do not use in boars intended for breeding purposes. Studies in rats have revealed evidence of potential adverse effects on the male reproductive system.
• Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipient.
• Not to be used in birds producing eggs for human consumption.
Drug-drug interaction:
• Phenicols interfere with the actions of many bactericidal drugs, such as the penicillins, cephalosporins, and aminoglycosides, and such combinations should not be used under most circumstances.
• Phenicols should not be administered concurrently with other antibacterial agents that bind to the 50S ribosomal subunit (eg, the macrolides and lincosamides).

Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C
