Composition :
Each 100 gm contains:
Bacitracin methylene disalicylate ……………..53.513 gm.
(Eq.to Bacitracin base 44.06 gm)
Properties:
Bacitracin is a polypeptide product of Bacillus subtilis that inhibits the formation of bacteria cell-wall peptidoglycan by complexing directly with the pyrophosphate carrier & inhibiting the dephosphoylation reaction required for its regeneration. It is bactericidal to Gram +ve bacteria but has little activity against Gram –ve organisms. The main antibacterial activity of this antibiotic is due to the bacitracin A component. The speed of bactericidal action being directly proportional to its concentration &, therefore, to its dose. Its activity is unaffected by blood or tissue breakdown products. Bacitracin is active against a range of organisms similar to that affected by penicillin. In some cases clinical response is not as good as with penicillin ,but frequently bacitracin is active against penicillin –resistant-organisms .the drug is thus effective against most Gram +ve Cocci (aerobic or anerobic), Gram +ve rods, and some spirochaetes.
Indications:
Broiler & replacement chickens:
– Necrotic enteritis in Chickens caused by Clostridium perfringens susceptible to bacitracin methylene disalicylate

Route of Administration:
Taken orally via drinking water.
Dose for whole product:
Broiler & Replacement Chickens:
12 gm – 24 gm of the product / 1000 kg (1.20 gm -2.5 gm of the product / 10 liters) (0.12 -0.25 gm of product/1liter)
Warnings and precautions:
- To control an outbreak, start medication at first clinical signs of disease. Consult a diagnostic laboratory or veterinarian to determine the diagnosis and advice regarding the optimal level of drug. For necrotic enteritis in broiler and replacement chickens, administer continuously 5-7 days or as long as clinical signs persist.
- Prepare a fresh solution daily and use as sole source of drinking water
Contra-indications
Not to be given parent rally, since it is strongly nephrotoxic
Adverse effects:
No side effects are observed following oral administration. Since bacitracin not absorbed after oral route.
Withdrawal periods:
Chickens: Zero days before slaughter.
Storage condition:
Store at temperature not exceeding 300C in dry place and used immediately after opening and used within 24 hours after reconstitution when stored at temperature not exceeding 300C
